Nearly two people were killed after a reactor blast in a pharma lab in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on Friday. The explosion took place at the Sahithi Pharma Pharmaceutical factory. Officials informed that many workers are feared to be injured due to the incident. The laboratory is situated in Atchutapuram Industrial Special Economic Zone, in the Anakapalli locality of Visakhapatnam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Superintendent of Police, Anakapalli Murali Krishna affirmed that the fire was caused due to a sudden reactor blast. The Superintendent of Police added that a reactor explosion was reported in a private pharma lab in Anakapalli adding that two people received severe injuries and they were rushed to a nearby hospital. The ambulances were arranged by the police officials to take the injured to a hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police official further informed that a case will be registered in the concerned matter and an investigation will be carried out to ascertain if there was any negligence from the management that led to the accident. Anakapalli Murali Krishna further stated that four fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the fire. They also carried out rescue operations along with the police team. Director of the Fire office, Lakshman Rao later mentioned that eight fire tenders were hurried to the spot and that four more were also on their way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rescue operations are still underway in the pharma lab. According to reports, state Information Technology and Industries minister Gudivada Amarnath in an interview to Reuters affirmed that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took cognizance of the accident. The Industries minister added that the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led government will carry out a detailed enquiry into the matter.
