In a surprising move, senior Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pawar was sworn along with a total of 9 heavyweight weight NCP leaders including Chhagan Bhujbal, Dhananjay Munde, Dilip Walse Patil, who took oath as the Ministers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pawar was administered oath by Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Praful Patel, who was recently elevated to the post of NCP working president recently has also ditched the association with Sharad Pawar backing Ajit Pawar in its decision to join hands with the ruling Shinde-Fadnavis alliance of Maharashtra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ajit Pawar supporters claim 40 MLAs on their account. Ajit adressing a press conference along with Patel and Chhagan Bhujbal said the discussion about this decision had been going for a long time. Posing his faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he said he took the decision to join the National Democratic Alliance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said more leaders are soon to take oath as Ministers. Making a big statement on future steps, the newly inducted Deputy CM said the future elections will be fought unitedly with the BJP with the NCP party name and symbol. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move by Ajit Pawar comes as a big blow to NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, who has 53 MLAs in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, a man known for his critical maneuvering just ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier in the day, Ajit Pawar had chaired a meeting of MLAs and party leaders at his official residence, a meeting about which the Sharad Pawar was not aware of and had said as the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra assembly he had the right to call a meeting of the MLAs. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
