The National Congress Party rebel camp has named Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar as party\u2019s national president and has approached the Election Commission staking claim of NCP name and symbol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports claimed, Sharad Pawar\u2019s associate and NCP Maharashtra unit chief Jayant Patil has filed a caveat before the EC stating a disqualification move has already been initiated against the 9 revolting MLAs, who joined the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP alliance on Sunday including Ajit Pawar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On June 30, the EC received a petition from Ajit Pawar under Para 15 of the Symbols Order, 1968. The panel also received 40 odd affidavits of MPs\/MLAs\/MLCs dated June 30, 2023 backing Ajit\u2019s petition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports claimed, a resolution was received by the panel for unanimously electing Ajit Pawar as NCP\u2019s national chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both the Sharad Pawar camp and nephew Ajit Pawar camp held two separate meetings in YB Chavan Centre, Mumbai and Bandra, Mumbai respectively in a show of strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the meetings nephew Pawar and Uncle Pawar took jibe at each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Ajit Pawar took on 83-year-old Sharad Pawar on his age saying he should now retire from politics, Pawar Sr replying to it said there are many in his nephew\u2019s faction who became an MLA or an MP because of him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Ajit Pawar\u2019s meeting, reportedly more than 30 MLAs and 1 Rajya Sabha MP marked their presence, while reports said, in Pawar Sr\u2019s meeting there were nearly 14 MLAs and 4 MPs of the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The state specifically NCP has been facing a political turmoil after Ajit Pawar along with Pawar Sr\u2019s close associates including Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal, Sunil Tatkare, Dilip Walse Patil, Hasan Mushrif and others switched sides to shake hands with Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis and become a part of the ruling government in the state on Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
