The northeastern state of Manipur is witnessing escalating violence for more than two months. The violence has witnessed more than hundred deaths in the state. Speaking about the violence, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said that the United States is ready to assist India in dealing with the violence in Manipur. He added that for the US, Manipur is a \u201chuman concern\u201d and it can bring more investment if peace is in place.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Ambassador Eric Garcetti said that when India asks out the concern about the United States, he doesn\u2019t think it is a strategic concern but also a human concern. He added that he will speak about Manipur first. He also prayed for peace in the northeastern state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further expressed that there is no need to be an Indian to care when they see children and individuals die in the sort of violence in Manipur adding that they know peace is the precedent for many good things in the northeast and those cannot continue with peace. The US ambassador remarked that they stand ready to assist in any way if asked. He mentioned that they know it is an Indian matter and they pray for that peace and it may come quickly. He added that with peace in Manipur, they can bring more collaboration, more projects, more investment if that peace is in place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, Eric Garcetti voiced that they wants to send a very clear message that the east of India and the northeast of India matters to the United States. He added that people of northeast, its places, its potential and its future matter to them.
