On this day, the country lost a brave son who was killed in battle on July 7th while preserving India&#8217;s territorial integrity. In honour of Captain Batra&#8217;s valour on the battlefield, the highest gallantry medal, the posthumous Param Vir Chakra, was given to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The impact of Vikram Batra&#8217;s martyrdom has endured, and former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh was inspired by his actions. On the anniversary of Batra&#8217;s passing, he paid tribute to India&#8217;s national hero by using the well-known slogan Yeh Dil Maange More by Batra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking to Twitter, he tweeted, humble Tributes to Captain Vikram Batra, Param Vir Chakra on his Punya Tithi. Together with his allies, he battled bravely and succeeded in liberating the location thought to be of crucial strategic value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He intervened in the action to free a stuck member of his team. While heroically trying to save his teammate, Vikram Batra tragically lost his life in the process. During the war, he was a lieutenant who was eventually elevated to the rank of captain. People have cherished and remembered him over the years for his enormous contribution to India&#8217;s struggle in the Kargil War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To show his story, in 2021 Vishnuvardhan made a biographical film, Shershaah, based on his life under Dharma Production. Sidharth Malhotra played the role of Vikram Batra in the film whereas Kiara Advani played the role of his girlfriend Dimple Cheema.
