A smartphone shop owner in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashok Nagar was reportedly giving tomatoes to customers free of cost with mobile phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The smartphone owner said since tomatoes have become expensive following that they wanted to offer something to customers due to increased competition in the market, so they decided to give 2 kg of free tomatoes with smartphones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the tomato price has touched the sky, vegetable sellers have been trying unusual things, like hiring bouncers to manage customers and giving away tomatoes for free with smartphone purchases. Recently, McDonald\u2019s burger dropped tomatoes from their burger meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, another interesting case came to light from UP\u2019s Varanasi, where a vegetable vendor identified as Ajay Fauji has taken extreme measures to handle the tomato price hike.
Following the tomato theft recently reported in Karnataka, he decided to hire bouncers to keep customers at a distance when they come to purchase tomatoes.
Ajay Fauji explained the matter and said he has hired bouncers since the tomato price has become expensive. People have been indulging in violence and even looting tomatoes. He added as they have stocked tomatoes in the shop, they would not take any risk of getting into an argument. That\u2019s why they have hired bouncers here. Ajay further added tomatoes are being sold for Rs160 per kg and people have been buying 50 or 100 grams only, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In several parts of the country, tomato prices have been on fire, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka. The price of tomatoes has crossed Rs 150 per kg.\u00a0Even a big player in the market and the younger generation\u2019s choice McDonald’s recently announced in issued letter that they decided to drop all the tomatoes item due to a hike in tomato prices in Delhi.
