A contractual worker of the electricity department in UP\u2019s Sonbhadhra district was arrested and dismissed from service on Sunday for allegedly assaulting a Dalit man and forcing him to lick his slippers. Two videos purportedly showing the accused, Tejbali Singh Patel, targeting Rajendra Kumar had emerged the previous day, inviting outrage and demands for immediate action against the alleged offender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rajender was visiting his maternal uncle in Baldih village under Shahganj police station on July 6 when he was attacked. He said in his police complaint that Tejbali hurled castiest comments when asked to look apparently caused by a fault at Shahganj power sub station. Tejbali abused and thrashed him before thrusting his face into his footwear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victim was also made to do five sit-ups. The video of the incident has gone viral. The incident was the result of a dispute between the two. The accused who worked as an electrical lineman was reportedly furious at the Dalit man for helping villagers with electrical issues. According to police officials, Tejbali Singh Patel, physically assaulted the victim Rajendra and subjected him to humiliating punishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
