Meta\u2019s new Twitter rival, Threads has registered more than 100 million users in a week, as per Quiver Quantitative\u2019s Threads Tracker. As far as reports are concerned, this milestone makes Threads the fastest growing app in history. Earlier, Open AI\u2019s ChatGPT held the crown for achieving 100 million active users, however, it took the app two months to reach the milestone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the new microblogging platform was introduced in nearly 100 countries including India past week. In a matter of a few hours, the app proved to be a biggest hit among the social media users. 30 million users downloaded the app within its first 24 hours of launch, thereby making it the fastest download app ever. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Friday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg declared that Threads had surpassed 70 million sign-ups. Experts noted that this new social media app is a direct challenger to Elon Musk\u2019s Twitter which had reportedly been in turmoil since the Tesla CEO took over the platform. Threads is branded as an Instagram app and is built by its team and it’s focused on text-based updates, like Twitter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Social media users need to log in to Threads through their Instagram account and can post up to 500 character text updates which also includes photos and videos. Upon the launch of the social media platform, multiple celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Oprah, Kylie Jenner have opened their account. In addition brands like Netflix, Spotify and Apple are all using Threads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per experts, Threads is capable of giving a tough competition to Twitter in the long run. Since Elon Musk took over Twitter for $44 billion, he has struggled to transform the platform by reducing the number of employees and making policy changes that have alienated some of Twitter’s most loyal users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the launch of Threads, Elon Musk has responded sharply blaming Meta for \u201cunlawful misappropriation\u201d of trade secrets.
