The political landscape in India is heating up as both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition parties are gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The NDA, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is aiming to demonstrate its strength and unity during its upcoming meeting in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BJP has announced that 38 parties have confirmed their participation in the NDA meeting, which will be the first of its kind during the second term of the Modi government. The recent addition of several parties to the NDA, including Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), and Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), has boosted the BJP’s morale ahead of the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some notable new entrants attending the NDA meeting include the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal (RLJD) led by Upendra Kushwaha, and the Jana Sena led by Pawan Kalyan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During a press conference, BJP President JP Nadda expressed confidence that the NDA would secure another electoral victory under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. He also criticized the opposition meeting in Bengaluru, suggesting that it was motivated by selfish interests and aimed to protect leaders facing corruption charges from the previous UPA government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the opposition meeting in Bengaluru, hosted by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, began with a dinner meeting attended by prominent opposition figures, including West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee. However, Sharad Pawar, a key opposition leader, did not attend the dinner but is expected to join the meeting along with his daughter Supriya Sule on the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several other political parties are set to join the opposition meeting on Tuesday, including the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Kongu Desa Makkal Katchi (KDMK), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), All India Forward Bloc, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Kerala Congress (Joseph), and Kerala Congress (Mani). Collectively, these parties hold around 150 Lok Sabha members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
