On Tuesday, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted interim bail to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the outgoing chief of the Wrestling Federation of India, and Vinod Tomar in a case related to alleged sexual harassment of women wrestlers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court has scheduled a hearing on their regular bail for July 20, but in the meantime, it has granted them interim bail until the next hearing. Both accused have been granted interim bail on a bail bond of Rs 25,000 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar on June 15. The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by women wrestlers. The chargesheet has been filed under sections 354, 354D, 345A, and 506(1) of the Indian Penal Code, as stated by the special public prosecutor, Atul Srivastava. Two FIRs were registered against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh based on the wrestler’s complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One FIR was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and a cancellation report has been filed in the case involving a minor wrestler. The second complaint was filed by several wrestlers. In the Patiala House Court, Delhi Police filed a cancellation report for the POCSO matter, citing a lack of evidence. On June 15, Delhi Police recommended the cancellation of the POCSO case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, following a change in the statement of the minor who had accused him of sexual harassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delhi Police stated that there was no collaborative evidence in the case. In both matters, the police officials confirmed that they have completed the investigation and are filing a chargesheet against Vinod Tomar for offenses under sections 109\/354\/354A\/506 IPC before the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court, as stated by Suman Nalwa, PRO, Delhi Police. The Police added in the POCSO matter, after completion of the investigation they had submitted a police report under section 173 Cr PC requesting for cancellation of the case based upon statements of the complainant ie father of the victim and the victim herself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
