The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert on Thursday for the districts of Thane, Raigad, Pune, and Palghar, anticipating heavy to very heavy rainfall. As a result, the downpour in several areas of Maharashtra is anticipated to continue on Friday. Additionally, the districts of Mumbai and Ratnagiri have received an orange alert. Due to the IMD’s red alert, authorities in Palghar and Thane have declared Friday and Saturday as holidays for schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least 16 people were killed in a landslip that the constant rain triggered on Wednesday night in a tribal hamlet in the Raigad area of the state, and as of now, 98 people have been saved, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the source, this is the largest landslip to occur in Maharashtra since the landslip that occurred at Malin Village in Ambegaon Tehsil of Pune District on July 30, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
