The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Palghar district, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, and an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts, warning of ongoing rainfall in several areas of Maharashtra on Saturday. Considering that the state capital is expected to see severe rain on Saturday, the civic chief has reportedly asked residents to stay inside and only leave their homes when absolutely essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IMD issued an additional warning for Saturday’s heavy to extremely heavy rain in isolated locations in the mountainous regions of the Pune district, Konkan, and Madhya Maharashtra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Friday, Mumbai had significant rains that led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas and disrupted both city and suburban traffic. Significant rainfall was observed at the IMD observatories in Colaba and Santacruz between the hours of 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, with 92.2 mm and 115.2 mm, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
