For allegedly attempting to break open ATMs at three kiosks in Vasai early on Monday day, five men have been detained. Police from Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar’s crime section claims that the accused took advantage of the recent downpour in the hope that they wouldn’t be discovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rohit D’Zousa, Prabhu Chauhan, Sahil Taak, Sonu Pariyar, and Kaushik Yadav have been named as the five accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Around one in the morning, four males broke into an ATM centre in Vasai West near Babhola Naka and attempted to break open the machine. The ATM kiosk’s CCTV camera recorded the entire episode as the criminals tried to steal the machine for more than an hour. According to police, the robbers didn’t realise they could be apprehended until the alarm went off, at which point they fled the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Sampatrao Patil, a senior police inspector at the Manikpur police station, an FIR for attempted robbery was filed against the unnamed individuals at 3am on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cops discovered a red Fiat Linea with the licence plate MH 12 FF 5061 after reviewing CCTV footage of the streets going to the ATM location. According to senior police inspector Shahuraj Ranware of Crime Branch Unit 2, they tracked the car’s movements using CCTV footage and discovered it parked outside some slums close to Achole Dongri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We set a trap and waited close to the vehicle. We stopped the automobile and detained the five individuals when we saw them approaching and seated in it, said Ranware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ranware claimed that D’souza, the primary suspect, had contacted the males living nearby his neighbourhood and persuaded them to create a gang despite having previous house-breaking charges filed against him and being the owner of the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
