Following an incident allegedly occurring last week in the violence-hit region of Manipur, the Border Security Force (BSF) swiftly took action by suspending a jawan accused of molesting a local woman at a grocery store. The incident came to light after CCTV footage surfaced, showing head constable Satish Prasad dressed in his combat uniform and carrying an INSAS rifle, allegedly abused the woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The video went viral on social media, prompting the BSF to respond promptly upon receiving a complaint from the Imphal West district on July 20. The jawan was suspended the same day after a thorough investigation. The accused head constable was deployed to the state as part of the number 100 battalion of the force, which was assigned as an ad-hoc unit for security duties amid the ongoing ethnic violence in the northeastern region. In response to the gravity of the allegations, a Court of Inquiry proceeding has been initiated against the accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The official stated, the incident was reported on July 20 in the Imphal West district, and after the paramilitary force received a complaint, the allegation was checked and subsequently the trooper was suspended on the same day. The head constable, who belongs to the number 100 battalion of the force, was sent to the state for security duties during the ongoing ethnic violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BSF maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards such acts, and authorities are committed to conducting an impartial and fair investigation to ensure justice is served, according to the official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The alleged incident occurred during a challenging period in Manipur, which has been facing ethnic violence since May 3.
