A 30-year-old woman and her three-year-old son were killed in a building collapse in West Delhi\u2019s Punjabi Bagh area on Tuesday morning, according to the police familiar with the matter. The deceased woman has been identified as Mamata. According to reports, the 30-year-old woman had been employed as a caretaker of the abandoned building. Mamata was living in that abandoned building with her family for several years, as per the police. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports stated that the local residents of the Arihant Nagar colony in Punjabi Bagh called the police control room after the building collapsed. Speaking about the matter, Deputy Commissioner of Police (west) Vichitra Veer said that the police hurried to the accident spot after the call found that a shed had collapsed. Mamta and her 3-year-old minor son were trapped under the debris of the collapsed concrete shed in the building\u2019s corridor, as far as reports are concerned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports further claimed that the concerned police officials rescued the mother-son duo with the help of local residents and firefighters. Following, the mother and the son were immediately sent to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where the doctors declared them brought dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per latest reports, the police asserted that they are questioning the building owner and Mamata\u2019s employer. In addition, the police affirmed that they have lodged a case against unknown people and initiated required investigations to get in touch with Mamata\u2019s family members. Furthermore, a senior police official familiar with the matter asserted that a probe into this is being carried out to ensure the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier in this month, at least three to four people were feared to be trapped as an under-construction building collapsed in Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar area. As per reports, a lintel on the fourth floor gave way, which led to a portion of the building to collapse.
