In Kerala, 11 women who were members of Haritha Karma Sena, the green army under the Parappanangadi Municipality, have won Rs 10 crore from purchasing Rs 250 lottery tickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No one would have ever imagined contributing Rs 25 each to buy a lottery ticket worth Rs 250 weeks ago will win Rs 10 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kerala Lottery department announced to them the winners of the monsoon bumper of whopping Rs 10 crore, following a draw held on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Radha expressed her excitement as she shared they had previously bought lottery tickets through pooling money, but this was the first time they had won a mega prize. She bought the winning ticket with funds contributed by her colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another woman expressed her excitement for the draw, but her mood turned sour when she was informed that the grand prize was won by neighbour Palakkad area women where the ticket was sold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were overjoyed when they found out that they had won the jackpot. Everyone was going through tough times, and the money will help alleviate some of their problems, she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The women of the Haritha Karma Sena struggle to make ends meet, as the modest salary they earn is the sole source of income for their families. This group was collecting non-biodegradable waste from households and establishments, which were later sent to shredding units for recycling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Sheeja, the chairperson of the Haritha Karma Sena consortium at the Municipality, this time lady luck smiled upon the most deserving people. She further stated that all the winners were extremely hardworking and the sole breadwinners for their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She explained that many individuals have been burdened with debts, have daughters to marry, and must cover the medical expenses of loved ones. These individuals live in humble homes and face the harsh realities of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
