In a shocking incident, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel shot dead four people, including an Assistant Sub-inspector, on-board a train near Palghar Railway station in Maharashtra on Monday morning, according to officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to ANI, the Railway Protection Force asserted that four casualties, including the ASI, have been reported in the firing incident inside the Jaipur Express train (12956). He affirmed that the accused has been arrested. He also added that DCP North GRP has been informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the accused, RPF Constable Chetan Kumar Choudhary opened fire from his automatic weapon at around five in the morning, killing another RPF colleague, his escort duty in charge ASI Tika Ram Meena and other three passengers on train, which was en route to Mumbai from Jaipur. The accused has been detained along with his weapon.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the matter, an official said to PTI that after killing his senior, the constable went to another bogie and shot dead three other passengers. The Western Railways asserted that the RPF constable opened fire inside the moving train after it crossed Palghar Station, and jumped out of the train near Dahisar Station after shooting four people. The accused was caught by police at Mira Road with the help of Government Railway Police and RPF officials. The incident took place in coach B5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, Divisional Railway Manager, Neeraj Verma noted that they got to know about the incident at around 6 am. He added that they were informed that an RPF constable, who was on escorting duty, opened fire. Four people have been shot dead. He further mentioned that their railway officer reached the spot. He asserted that the families have been contacted and that an ex-gratia will be given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to latest reports, all the four bodies were removed from the train at Borivali station and sent to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital at Kandivali. Meanwhile, the police official concerned with the matter claimed that the RPF official was not mentally well and was asked to take rest.
