According to UGC, these universities are not authorised to award degrees to students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the list released by UGC, Delhi tops the list of fake universities followed by Uttar Pradesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UGC has taken this step to protect students from getting trapped and enrolled in these unaccredited institutions for pursuing their education further. Before taking admission into any university, it is advised for students and parents to verify the accreditation status of universities before enrolling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UGC has issued a statement in which they have identified many universities which have been offering degrees that are not upto the mark of the UGC Act, and degrees from such universities shall neither be recognized nor valid for higher education and employment purposes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The official UGC notice says it is hereby brought to the notice of students, parents, and the general public\u00a0that degrees can be awarded only by Universities\/Institutions that are established under a State Act or Central Act or Provincial Act\u00a0or\u00a0institution empowered to confer or grant degrees\u00a0as<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>per UGC Act, 1956.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it has come to the notice\u00a0of\u00a0UGC that a number of institutions are offering degrees in contrary to the provisions of the UGC Act.
