A 73-year-old woman passed away on Thursday when the lift cable of a high-rise society in Noida snapped leading to a free fall between floors. According to the police, she may have died due to a cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lift did not fall to the ground, but was stuck midway between the floors of the building, Paras Tierea in Sector 137 Noida, after free fall. The elderly woman was alone when she entered the lift and fainted inside due to the breaking of its wire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident took place at 4:30 p.m. in a high-rise society located in Sector 137, Noida. The woman was taken to Felix Hospital, also located in Sector 137 of Noida, where passed away in an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The identity of the woman was determined as Sushila Devi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sushila Devi pressed the down button for the elevator from the eighth floor of the high-rise, however someone from the floors above had already called for the elevator, so it was moving up after she entered it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before the woman\u2019s death, another elevator of one of the towers in the Noida society complex had fallen earlier however the lift was vacant at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hundreds of Paras Tierra residents protested the lift accident and the maintenance of the society such as the management of lifts while police were stationed there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the incident, the woman was taken to Felix Hospital and admitted there for treatment. She sustained injuries on the back of her head and abrasions on her elbow. She had no pulse and dilated eyelids when she arrived at the hospital, possibly indicating she suffered a cardiac arrest while she was in the elevator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
