After the rainfall on Wednesday, residential sector parks throughout the city have become waterlogged, presenting a concerning situation. The stagnant water in these parks remained unresolved even on Thursday due to inadequate drainage systems. Residents are raising alarms over the potential breeding of mosquitoes in the stagnant water and sludge.

Numerous sectors across the city are grappling with overflowing drains, resulting in waterlogging on roads and green belts. Colonel (retd) Rajeev Verma, who resides in the area, has made efforts to address this issue, approaching both the Noida CEO and horticulture department officials in the past year. However, no effective measures have been taken so far.

Verma highlights that the recent flooding has led to the appearance of snakes in the neighborhood, and even snakelets have been found in the drains. This can be attributed to these reptiles’ habitats being flooded. He emphasizes that the park in Sector B is the sole green space in the vicinity, serving as a vital source of fresh air for all residents, regardless of age. The Residents Welfare Association organized regular insecticide spraying and fogging to combat mosquitoes, but cases of dengue and malaria have been reported in several houses within the block.

A practical solution would involve the implementation of water harvesting at strategic points, facilitating proper water flow and mitigating the issue of persistent waterlogging. Similar grievances have been expressed by residents of other sectors including 70, 120, 122, and 119. However, authorities contend that water harvesting pits have been established in low-lying areas and major parks across the city.

Furthermore, obstructed sewers and drains have contributed to water accumulation in green spaces like parks, green belts, and adjacent roads. In Sector 72, the general secretary of the RWA, Jaipal Singh, conveyed that despite multiple complaints to Authority officials about clogged sewers in the area, no corrective measures have been taken so far.
