Union Minister Smriti Irani has accused Congress MP Rahul Gandhi of displaying a gesture of blowing a flying kiss as he exited the parliament following his speech on the No-Confidence Motion. Irani asserted that such an act could only come from a person with a misogynistic mindset, as blowing a flying kiss towards the assembly that includes women MPs lacked decorum and dignity. She specifically referred to Rahul Gandhi, who was reseated in the parliament recently.

Later, Irani highlighted that never before had such blatant misogynistic behavior been so evident within the parliament. She emphasized that the House of the people, a forum where laws are formulated to safeguard the respect of women, bore witness to a man’s misogynistic action during a session. BJP women MPs lodged a complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging that Rahul Gandhi’s alleged gesture was demeaning to women.

Irani strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi for his accusation that the government had caused harm to Bharat Mata (India) in Manipur. She expressed disbelief that such a statement had been made for the first time. She criticized Congress leaders for applauding this statement that insinuated the murder of India.

Union Minister Smriti Irani countered Rahul Gandhi’s statements on the no-confidence motion against the NDA government. She remarked that it was unprecedented for a Member of Parliament to speak about the demise of Mother India, with alliance members applauding. Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that his mother (referring to Sonia Gandhi) had been killed in Manipur due to the bifurcation by the NDA government, Irani commented, He is not India because India is not corrupt. India believes in merit, not in dynasty. She reminded him of the historical Quit India movement, urging for the cessation of corruption and dynasty politics.
