Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi has summoned a meeting today of the party\u2019s Lok Sabha members to discuss the suspension of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury from the Lok Sabha for repeated misconduct. According to reports, the meeting has been called at the Congress Parliamentary Party office at the Parliament at 10:30am. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi moved a resolution for Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury\u2019s suspension as certain remarks by the Congress leader on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the no-confidence motion debate triggered an outrage from the treasury benches. The resolution was passed by a voice vote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the Congress leader defended his remark stating that he had not insulted PM Modi. He added that the Prime Minister did not feel insulted but his courtiers felt so and brought the proposal against me. He mentioned that he came to know that the matter has been referred to the privilege committee and till then he has been suspended. Congress MP Manish Tewari noted that the suspension is unfortunate and an utter violation of Article 105 (1) of the Constitution of India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, Congress whip in Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore stated that this is the first time that for speaking against Modi, largest opposition party leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has been suspended. He exclaimed that this phenomenon is unbelievable, undemocratic and that he condemns the autocracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, Pralhad Joshi noted that it has become habitual for the Congress leader and it has become most unfortunate. He claimed that despite repeated warnings he has not improved himself. He further asserted that the Congress leader always makes baseless charges in his debate and tries to lower the dignity of the government. He also asserted that there are no facts in Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury\u2019s arguments and he never apologizes.
