Chandrachud said after 77 years of India\u2019s independence the national flag flutters in the winds of liberty and equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said at times the wind has stood still or there were storms on the horizon, but the flag takes the country back to the collective glories of the past and gives all Indians the will to continue in the present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chandrachud said the Tiranga is a symbol of the collective heritage of all Indians. He shared it was an honour for him to stand as the Chief Justice of the apex Court, where he used to come as a junior lawyer to hear the judges and as the Attorney General.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking about the role of insitutions in a democracy, Chandrachud said media, bureaucracy, political parties, voluntary organisations play an important role in the development of constitutional democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chief Justice said looking back at last 76 years of independent India, it can be witnessed that each institution has contributed to the development of the country. He added the legislature, executive and judiciary has been committed towards nation building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the Supreme Court has been a leader of the institutional governance. Chandrachud said the goodness of a judge and its judgement can be defined by the goodness of the lawyer who appear before the judges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chandrachud on the occasion announced that a plan has been drawn up to expand the Supreme Court. He said 27 new Courts and 4 new Registrar Courts to be accommodated in the new building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chandrachud said the Tiranga is a symbol of the collective heritage of all Indians.
