More than 89 million selfies of people from across the country with the national flag were uploaded on the government’s official website till 12 in the afternoon on Tuesday under the three day campaign being run since Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s fresh clarion call on Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the home page of Har Ghar Tiranga website shows an option to upload a selfie with the flag and mentions that 89 million selfies with tricolour were uploaded till 12 noon on Tuesday. The website encouraged the public to hoist a flag at their house from august 13 to 15, the three day \u2018Har Ghar Tiranga\u2019 campaign to celebrate the 77th Independence Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, the Union Ministers took part in the Har Ghar Tiranga bike rally at the Pragati Maidan area in the national capital. The bike rally which is the second edition of the campaign, was flagged off by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and proceeded on Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, India Gate along with the Pragati Maidan tunnel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was introduced by the Ministry of Culture last year, as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate the completion of 75 years of India\u2019s Independence. The campaign was launched on July 22. According to reports, the date was chosen for its historical importance as it aligned with the adoption of the National Flag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a recent tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that Tiranga symbolises the spirit of freedom and national unity. He added that every Indian has an emotional connection with the tricolour and it inspires the citizens to work harder to further national progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
