As the company seeks to increase its production volume of new iPhones from India, Apple supplier Foxconn Technology Group plant in Sriperumbudur has decided to deliver the newest devices only weeks after they start shipping from factories in China, as per the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cupertino-based tech giant is diversifying its manufacturing away from China to reduce supply chain risk due to unpredictable trade tensions between Washington and Beijing. India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to strengthen ties with the US and become a manufacturing hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apple had a minimal iPhone assembly in India before the iPhone 14, lagging behind China’s output by six to nine months. However, the delay was significantly reduced last year, and Apple produced 7% of its iPhones in India at the end of March. The goal is to achieve shipment timing parity from India and China this year, although suppliers are unsure whether it will happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scale of iPhone 15 production in India depends on component availability and production line ramp-up at the Foxconn factory near Chennai. Apple’s new family of handsets, set to be announced on Sept. 12, promises significant camera upgrades and improved 3-nanometer processors for Pro models. The success of these new devices is crucial for boosting sales after three straight quarters of decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other Apple suppliers in India like Pegatron Corp. and a Wistron Corp. factory that is being acquired by the Tata Group will also soon assemble the iPhone 15, the people said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
