Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday refuted the grave allegations made in the audit report citing high cost of construction on the Dwarka Expressway project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Breaking his silence over the first time since the audit report surfaced, Gadkari said it is a gross mispresentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in its report flagged huge fund mismangement on the Dwarka Expressway project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report claimed, the expressway project which is a total of 29.06 kilometers is being constructed at a sky-high price of Rs 250.77 crore per kilometer against the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) sanctioned Rs 18.2 crore per kilometer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report showing 14 times higher than the sanctioned cost was enough to create a political uproar and the opposition could not have got a better opportunity than this to encircle the Narendra Modi government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the allegations, Gadkari said the total length of the Expressway was not 29-km long as mentioned in the audit report but 230 kilometres in length as it includes tunnels in it as well. He added, as per this, each kilometer is being built at a cost of Rs 9.5 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gadkari further added, the project was completed at 12% less than the total estimated cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister said his Ministry under Prime Minister Modi\u2019s leadership is transparent and time bound and challanged saying any if any stakeholder or individual produces a single proof of any corruption or scam by his Ministry or in any of his projects, he is ready to accept whatever punishment to be decided.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
