Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday introduced a \u2018mera bill\u2019 app under the aegis of \u2018bill liao inaam pao\u2019, (bring a bill, get reward) scheme. The major objective of the scheme is aimed at enhancing the compliance under the goods and services tax (GST) and thereby the revenue, as per an official release. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the scheme is targeted at motivating consumers to get bills from dealers for their purchases made within the state and prompting the dealers to issue the bills for their sales. Speaking about the scheme, Punjab Chief Minister asserted that the consumers will be encouraged to upload bills of their purchases on the \u2018mera bill\u2019 app to become eligible to participate in the lucky draw, which is scheduled to be held on 7th of every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reportedly, the reward will be equal to five times the taxable values of the goods or services mentioned in the bill with a maximum capping of Rs 10,000 for each reward. The Chief Minister further stated that the list of winners would be displayed on the website of the taxation department and the winners would be informed through the mobile app. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, sale bills of petroleum products like crude oil, petrol, aviation turbine fuel, natural gas and liquor along with B2B transactions would not be eligible for participation in the scheme. The Punjab Chief minister added that the people of the state gets its due share of the revenue for several social welfare schemes. He further remarked that the scheme will allow the state government to check tax evasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
