Acting on a tip-off, the specialized anti-drug task force (STF) of the Punjab Police has dismantled a cross-border drug smuggling network by arresting three individuals in Mehimad Mandra village, Amritsar district, on Wednesday. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 41 kilograms of heroin that had been smuggled into India from Pakistan via the Ravi river. The suspects were identified as Agyapal Singh, aged 27, from Ghumrai village, Ranjodh Singh (also known as Rana), aged 26, from Mehimad Mandra, and Sandeep Singh from Panjgrain village in Amritsar district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a press conference held in Amritsar, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the STF, Mukhtiar Rai, stated, under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vawinder Mahajan, the police launched a targeted operation to dismantle the network of smugglers collaborating with Pakistani individuals to facilitate heroin supply from across the border. Acting on a tip-off, the team learned that Agyapal, the mastermind behind the drug smuggling operation, alongside his two associates, had received a shipment of heroin from Pakistan and stored it in Mehimad Mandra village. A subsequent raid led to the discovery of 41 kilograms of heroin at Ranjodh’s residence, resulting in the apprehension of the three suspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
