India is on the moon! ISRO Chief S Somanath announced with pride that soft landing is achieved. Chandrayaan-3 has landed on the moon making India the first nation to land on the Moon\u2019s South Polar Region. With this milestone achieved, India is the fourth country after Russia, United States and China to land on the moon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chandrayaan-3 team expressed joy after achieving the milestone and stated that the goal was achieved flawlessly. The team also extended gratitude to people for supporting this historic mission. They added that this success has put even more pressure on them and now the bar is set high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the moon\u2019s south pole is thought to be potentially water-rich. The successful validation of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO\u2019s) lunar landing capabilities can aid to boost further such lunar missions under the Artemis Accords. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, ISRO Chief S Somanath expressed that they are confident of a successful soft landing on August 23. Speaking to a newspaper, the ISRO chief mentioned that the confidence stems from all the preparations ahead of the launch and the hitch-free progress made by the integrated module in their journey to Moon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following this successful moon mission, the space research organisation, ISRO has a number of project in the pipeline. These projects include a mission to study the sun and a human space flight programme, Gaganyaan. Reportedly, the first space-based Indian observatory to study the sun is getting ready for launch in the first week of September. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chandrayaan-3 launched successfully from Satish Dhawan space centre in Andhra Pradesh\u2019s Sriharikota on July 14. This is reportedly India’s third mission to the moon and is considered to be a major stride for India\u2019s space journey, which expanded rapidly since the country\u2019s first moon mission in 2008.
