During this supposed Moon visit, Banerjee mentioned that Indira Gandhi had asked Rakesh Sharma about India&#8217;s appearance from there, to which he famously responded with Sare jahaan se achcha (better than the entire world), as per reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at a rally commemorating the foundation day anniversary of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), the student wing of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Mamata Banerjee, the party&#8217;s leader, made a mistake that quickly gained attention. Videos capturing this incident were widely circulated on the social network formerly known as Twitter, referred to as X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just the previous week, during her commendation of the Indian Space Research Organisation&#8217;s (ISRO) accomplishment in the Chandrayaan-3 mission, Banerjee made an error. Furthermore, it&#8217;s important to note that Rakesh Sharma did not journey to the Moon; rather, he travelled to the Soviet Union&#8217;s Salyut 7 Orbital Station in low Earth orbit, as part of a Soviet space mission. This memorable conversation between Gandhi and Sharma transpired in April 1984. Notably, Sharma, who is now 74 years old, remains the sole Indian national to have experienced space travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Banerjee&#8217;s aforementioned verbal misstep occurred on August 23rd, shortly after ISRO&#8217;s successful soft landing of the Chandrayaan-3&#8217;s lander module on the Moon&#8217;s surface. This accomplishment positioned India as the fourth nation to achieve a gentle landing on the Moon, following the United States, Russia, and China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, it&#8217;s worth highlighting that the lander module effectively touched down at the intended location \u2013 the South Pole of the celestial body.
