Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address China’s actions along the Indian border on Wednesday, a day after China issued a new map that included Indian territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Congress leader further claimed that the Prime Minister had lied when he said that China had not grabbed even a single inch of Ladakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gandhi said, he had been saying for years that what the PM said, that not one inch of land was lost in Ladakh, is a lie. The entire Ladakh knows that China has transgressed. He also said, this map issue is very serious. They have taken away the land. PM should say something about it, the Congress leader added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China issued a revised edition of its standard map on Monday that includes Taiwan, the disputed South China Sea, Arunachal Pradesh, and the Aksai Chin region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The central government strongly protested it to Beijing in response. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), China’s activities have done nothing but complicate the resolution of the boundary dispute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During an interview, minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar said, maps released by China include territories that do not belong to them. The minister also said, it’s an old habit. This doesn’t alter just because maps featuring sections of India are issued, he added. Our region is defined quite clearly by our administration. Making ludicrous claims does not grant you ownership of other people’s lands, Jaishankar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have today lodged a strong protest with the Chinese side through diplomatic channels on the so-called 2023 standard map of China that stakes claim to India’s territory, MEA spokeswoman Arindam Bagchi said. He also said, they have rejected these assertions because they are unfounded.
