Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to attend the 20th ASEAN-India Summit and the 18th East Asia Summit from September 6 to 7, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the invitation of the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, Prime Minister Modi will be in Jakarta to attend the meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
PM Modi\u2019s visit to Indonesia comes ahead of the G20 Summit which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10 under the presidency of India. Indonesia had the presidency of the grouping last year, it is part of the G20 ‘troika’ since it has hosted G20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ASEAN-India Summit will be the first to occur after India and the Association of South East Asian Nations became a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the foreign ministry, the Summit will assess the development of India-ASEAN relations and plan the future course of collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leaders from ASEAN countries and their eight dialogue partners can capitalize on the opportunity presented by the East Asia Summit, according to a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India is holding a meeting to discuss important regional and global topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ASEAN-India Economic Ministers convened in Indonesia last August, with the primary focus being the review of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) signed back in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ASEAN-India FTA review will be concluded by 2025 with the help of a joint committee that agreed on a regular, quarterly negotiation schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2018, Indonesian President Widodo invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jakarta. During the visit, both leaders agreed to establish a New Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to strengthen cooperation in all areas and take the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and India to a new era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
