Prime Minister Narendra Modi today that the heated Sanatana Dharma comment made by DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin should be addressed properly. Additionally, the Prime Minister warned the ministers against commenting on the India vs. Bharat debate and added that only the appropriate person should speak on the matter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
At a meeting of the Council of Ministers held before the start of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said, to stay with the facts as mentioned in the Constitution, and avoid digging into history. In the meeting, PM Modi also said to talk about the current state of the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, drove a political controversy as he linked the Sanatan Dharma to diseases like dengue and malaria. Speaking at an event in Chennai on Saturday, he added, that such things should not be opposed but destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Multiple political parties expressed their displeasure at the remarks, with the BJP pressing the Congress to do so. However, Udhayanidhi later asserted that he had not urged violence against Sanatan Dharma followers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of the BJP’s IT department, Amit Malviya, claimed the statement refers to a call for the genocide of the 81% of the population that follows to Sanatana Dharma. The BJP also attacked the opposition group INDIA over the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, an FIR was filed on Wednesday accusing DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge of inciting religious sentiment through their remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Udaynidhi Stalin has refused to change his statement that Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated and has been compared to a disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
