In his inaugural address at the mega event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced that India\u2019s G20 presidency has become a symbol of \u2018Sabka Sath\u2019 inside and outside the country. He added that this has become the people\u2019s G20 in India and more than 200 meetings were held across the country. Ahead of the inaugural address, PM Narendra Modi welcomed a host of world leaders, including US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the Bharat Mandapam, which is the venue of G20 Summit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, in an historic moment, the African Union (AU) became a permanent member of the G20. As far as reports are concerned, the African Union comprises 55 nations. With this inclusion, the African Union becomes the second largest group of nations within the bloc after the European Union. According to reports, the G20 is likely to be renamed as G21 following the AU\u2019s induction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant had earlier affirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s proposal for admission of the African Union into the G20 has received a very positive response.
