In Telangana\u2019s Karimnagar silver filgree craftsmen have crafted badges of Ashok Chakra that have been worn by the delegates who are attending the G20 summit in New Delhi. Silver filigree work also known as Telkari is a rare form of art that involves the twisting of silver wires into intricate designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 200 nos Ashok Chakra badges have been made by these skilled craftsmen. These badges have been pinned to the suits of the G20 delegates. These badges have been crafted as the Ashok Chakra signifies as an emblem of peace, dharma and truth. A 28 foot long Nataraja statue has been installed at the entrance of the convention centre in Delhi\u2019s Pragati Maidan to welcome the delegates. The statue symbolizes Lord Shiva as the Lord of Dance and his cosmic power of destruction and creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sculpture is made of Astadhatu and weighs 19 tonnes. It was made of eight S Devasenathipathy Sthapathy Sons of Swamimalai, Tamil Nadu. The eight metal statue was made by the traditional Chola craft which took six months to be crafted by a team of 50 artisans. Around 3 percent lead was present, 15 percent bronze and 82 percent of copper was used in the metal. Also small amounts of mercury, tin silver and gold were also utilized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The legacy of craftsmanship runs deep in SriKanda\u2019s ancestry, which goes back to the famous Chola Thanjavur Temple. In the month of February the ministry of culture ordered the Nataraja statue. The firm did not accept any other order during this period as all artisans were involved in the project. The G20 summit began at the Bharat Mandapam on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi an introductory address at the conference and formally informed the inclusion of the 55 member African Union as a member of the G 20.
