As the 18th G20 Summit nears its conclusion in New Delhi, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced record climate aid commitment as G20 in India concludes. The Prime Minister affirmed that the UK will provide $2 billion to the Green Climate Fund. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per reports, this is the biggest single funding commitment the UK has made to support the world tackle climate change. The UK will contribute \u20ac1.62 billion ($2 billion) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The Green Climate Fund was established by 194 countries following the Copenhagen Accord at COP15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the G20 Summit, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stressed on the importance of collaborative efforts among the world leaders in preparations for the upcoming COP28 Summit in December. He further urged the world leaders to take collaborative action to lower their respective countries’ carbon emissions while also extending assistance to economically vulnerable nations in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the world leaders at the G20 Summit, Rishi Sunak stated that the Uk is stepping up and delivering on their climate commitments, both by decarbonising their own economy and supporting the world\u2019s most vulnerable to deal with the impact of climate change. He added that his government will continue to lead by example in making the Uk, and the world, more prosperous and secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, Britain has committed to spend 11.6 billion pounds ($14.46 billion) on international climate finance between 2021 and 2026. As per the statement from Rishi Sunak\u2019s office, today\u2019s announcement pledge represents a 12.7% increase on the UK\u2019s previous contribution to the GCF for the period of 2020-2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
