Security forces on Thursday encircled two Lashkar militants responsible for the deaths of Major Ashish Dhonchak and Colonel Manpreet Singh, the commanding officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles and deputy superintendant of police (DSP) Humayun Muzamil Bhat during an encounter in the Garol forest at Kokernag in Anantnag district of Kashmir Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police an operation to nuetralise the two Laskar-e-Toiba militants is ongoing. J&K Police took to X (formerly twitter) and wrote paying tribute to the valour of Col Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonchak and DSP Humayun Bhat, who sacrificed their lives during the ongoing operation, the security forces have have encircled 2 LET terrorists and Uzair Khan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior police and army officers are overseeing the operation. According to reports Uzair Khan is a Lashkar commander who had joined militant ranks last year. The body of DSP Bhat who is the son of a retired DIG of J&K Police Ghulam Hassan Bhat was laid to rest in Tral on Wednesday night. Kashmir DGB Dilbag Singh said the militants responsible for the criminal act would be brought to justice soon.
