Bollywood actor Govinda will be questioned by the Odisha Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with the Rs 1,000 crore online ponzi scam that took place pan-India, the authority said on September 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the reports, the EOW will soon send a team to Mumbai for questioning in the case. The Solar Techno Alliance (STA-Token) which has a presence in several countries, has been found guilty of operating a pan-India scam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an online ponzi scam, it was found that the company paid profits to lure earlier investors from recent investors making victims believe that profits had been made from legitimate businesses but it is not. The other investors were the main source of profits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the actor had endorsed the company in the past in a few promotional videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The EOW has cleared that they have not found Govinda a suspect or an accused in the case. The authority has said that if they find that his role was limited to only endorsement of the product STA-Token brand as per their business agreement, then they will make him a witness in our case, an official added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company collected Rs 30 crore from 10,000 people in Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Bhubaneswar, as per reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to EOW inspector general J N Pankaj, he said a team will soon off to Mumbai to question filmstar Govinda who had attended STA’s grand function in Goa in July and promoted the company in a few videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report further suggests that the company has taken lakhs of money in deposits from investors in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Jharkhand and other states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, On August 7, the EOW arrested the company\u2019s heads Gurtej Singh Sidhu and Nirod Das in the case. The EOW, on August 16, also arrested Bhubaneswar-based investment adviser Ratnakar Palai for his connection with Gurtej Singh Sidhu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
