Kashyap, Harish Salve, Sanjay Kothari, and panel chief Ram Nath Kovind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a special invitee, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will also attend the meetings of the committee. Legal Affairs Secretary Niten Chandra has been appointed as a secretary to the panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury rejected the offer to be part of the eight-member committee, which was made by the central government to explore the possibility of a One Nation One Election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in his letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, said that the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had been excluded from the panel list, instead they included former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad. It further said that this was a deliberate insult to the system of Parliamentary democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 31, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi took to X, formerly Twitter and announced a special session of the parliament from September 18 to 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holding Lok Sabha and state assembly elections simultaneously across the country is what One Nation One Election is all about. The issue has been discussed by the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on numerous occasions and was also part of the party\u2019s manifesto for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In India, conducting simultaneous polls was a common practice until 1967 and four elections were held in this manner. However, this practice was discontinued after some state assemblies were dissolved prematurely in 1968-69.
