Some private hospitals in Uttar Pradesh are raising bogus inflated bills under the Ayushman Bharat scheme to make easy money. In one case a diarrhoea patient who was admitted to a general ward was shifted to intensive care. His photo was taken. He was later moved back to the general ward. The hospital could earn more money through the scheme by raising ICU bills instead of general ward bills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
369 private hospitals have been de-empanneled from the scheme due to cases of fraud. The government is implementing new methods to catch the fraudsters. 160 cases cases of such fraud have come to light. Five of these cases are from Lucknow. In one of the cases the treatment could have been done to Rs 2500 per day. But the bills using the ICU facility the amount goes beyond Rs 7000 per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UP government is planning to increase the number of hospitals where patients can get treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Private hospitals are finding newer ideas for doing fraud. Sangeeta Singh said new methods are being put into place to catch fraudulent activity done by private hospitals. The hospitals are de-empanneled when found guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A private hospital in Amethi was sealed by the administration. This step was taken after the death of a woman patient. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak carried out an investigation in the death. The chief medical officer cancelled the registration of the hospital. Hence it was de-empanneled by Sachis. In one case patients were treated like sheep in Kanpur.
