He added the state cabinet has approved the name of Gurminder Singh for the post of the advocate general. Mann chaired an emergency meeting of the cabinet at his residence.Discussion was held on the Sutlej-Yamuna-Link (SYL) canal issue by the council of ministers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Punjab CM took to X (Formerly Twitter) and wrote the SYL issue was the main topic of discussion at the meeting.\u00a0 He said many pro-people decisions were taken at the meeting. Political parties in Haryana welcomed the Supreme Court\u2019s direction and said the people of Haryana have been waiting to get SYL water for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The apex court had asked the Centre to survey the portion of land in Punjab that had been allocated for the construction of the SYL canal. The top court had further instructed to carry out an estimate of the construction that had to be carried out in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul headed the bench and asked the central government to pursue the mediation process to solve the ongoing dispute between Haryana and Punjab over the construction of SYL canal. The concept of SYL canal was put in place for proper allocation of water from the Beas and Ravi rivers.
