This is Indian men\u2019s kabaddi team\u2019s 8<sup>th<\/sup> gold medal in Asian Games history. Previously India had lost to Iran in the semi final at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before that India had won all seven gold medals since kabaddi made its debut in the Asian Games at Biejing 1990. A strong Iranian defence led by captain Fazel Atrachali had put India under pressure at the start of the match with strong tackles. India raider Naveen Kumar and Indian Kabbadi captain Pawan Sehrawat kept India in the hunt by stealing points consistently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mohammad Reza Shadlu did the job for Iran with multi point raids. Iran led India 12-9. Three minutes were left for half time. Indian defence headed by the vice captain of the team Sunil Kumar helped India take a four point lead at 17-13. Pawan Sehrawat helped India to fightback and removed captain Fazel Atrachali with a raid. The experienced Mohammad Esmaeil Nabi baksh were also sent out and India led 28-25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iran mounted a comeback with three points one after another. The scores were even at 28 all. One more minute remained for the contest to end. It was a do or die situation for both the teams. Pawan Sehrawat won four points to put his team in the driver\u2019s seat. But the match was suspended as the referees and the teams sought clarity on the points scored on the raids.
