The world no 3 pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Korea\u2019s Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won Ho 21-18, 21-16 in the final to win India\u2019s first ever badminton gold medal at the Asian Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is Satwik-Chirag\u2019s fifth title this year after the wins in Korea Open, Indonesia Open, Asia Champinships and Swiss Open. Kim Won Ho and Choi Sol Gyu who had upset Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions Wang Chi-Lin and Lee Yang in the semi finals. The Koreans ranked having 15 position in the world rankings dominated the early stages of the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The electrifying duo of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/satwiksairaj?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@satwiksairaj<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Shettychirag04?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Shettychirag04<\/a> have won a Gold Medal in Badminton Men&#39;s Doubles. The match seemed to be going Kim Won Ho and Choi Sol Gyu\u2019s way. Satwiksairaj Ranki reddy and Chirag Shetty made a brilliant comeback. They Indian duo scored six back to back points to take the lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second game the two teams went toe to toe in the intial stages of the match. The Indian team won by just a single point and went into the mid game break. After the game started again Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty began to break away and won the game comfortably and finished the match in 57 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is India\u2019s third win against the South Korean team. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty had defeated out Malasia\u2019s Soh Wooi Yik and Aaron Chia, the Tokyo Olympics bronze medal winners to book a place in the finals. Earlier India defeated Singaporean pair of Johann Prajogo and Nge Joo Jie in the quarter finals to assure themselves a medal in the Asian Games 2023. India finished their badminton campaign with three medals.
