The Election Commission of India on Wednesday announced that the Rajasthan Assembly election will be held on November 25 instead of November 23. The counting of votes in all five states will be conducted on December 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Issuing a statement, the Election Commission of India stated that the decision was taken considering large-scale weddings, social engagement on November 23, that may cause inconvenience to large numbers of people, several logistics issues and may also lead to reduced voter participation during the elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Election Commission earlier stated that the northeastern state of Mizoram will conduct elections on November 7. Chhattisgarh will go into polls on November 7 and November 17. Madhya Pradesh will conduct the election on November 17. Meanwhile, Telangana will carry out a one-phase election on November 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a press conference on Monday, the Election Commission noted Mizoram has 8.52 lakh voters, Chhattisgarh has 2.03 crore, Madhya Pradesh 5.6 crore, Rajasthan 5.2 crore, Telangana 3.17 crore voters. It underlined that the total voters in these states would be around 8.2 crore male and 7.8 crore female voters. Meanwhile, there are nearly 60.2 first time voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The election body further established an Election Seizure Management System for five assembly elections in an attempt to enhance the oversight for inducement-free elections. The election body also pointed out that there will be zero tolerance towards use of money power and strict vigil over suspicious online cash transfers through wallets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the ECI stated that there will be 940 checkposts in place for strict vigil on interstate borders and to dry up an inflow of illicit liquor, cash, freebies and drugs. The Election Commission has given special emphasis on making electoral rolls inclusive and mentioned that the focus will be on roll-to-poll conversion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
