Early this morning, a special aeroplane arranged as part of Operation Ajay brought the second group of Indian nationals who had been in war-torn Israel safely back home. On Saturday, the aircraft carrying 235 Indian nationals\u2014including two infants\u2014landed in New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
212 Indian citizens were on the inaugural charter flight under Operation Ajay, which touched down at Delhi airport on Friday morning amidst the nation’s ongoing confrontation with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Indian embassy organised a drive for all Indians to register at the mission’s database, and after that, the passengers were selected on a first come first serve basis. The expense of their return is being carried by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the horrific attacks on Israeli cities by Hamas militants from Gaza on October 7, which incited new tension in the unstable region, India began Operation Ajay on Thursday to aid people who desire to return home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aircraft departed at 11:02 p.m. local time. On Sunday, the Indian nationals will also continue to be evacuated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next group of Indian individuals who registered for the special flight today received an email from the Embassy. For upcoming flights, messages to other registered individuals would be sent out, the Indian Embassy announced on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An Indian government researcher at Bar-Ilan University in Safed has expressed gratitude for Operation Ajay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PhD candidate Suryakant Tiwari of Bar-Ilan University’s Azrieli Faculty of Medicine in Safed said, he want to express my gratitude to the Indian government for helping to evacuate them from the Israeli conflict zone. Under Operation Ajay, our government has rescued us from this predicament, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Approximately 18,000 Indian nationals, including carers, students, some IT professionals, and diamond traders, reside and work in Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indian citizens had to be evacuated when armed Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip broke through the Israeli security border on Saturday and began to enter Israel by land, air, and sea in what is now being called an unprecedented attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since then, more than 1,300 people have died in Israel as a result of the attack, while more than 1,900 people have died in Gaza as a result of Israeli counterattacks.
