Launching a fresh attack on Adani, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed that the Adani Group is fleecing the people of India and cited media reports. The Congress leader asserted that the group is over-invoicing for coal imports, which is resulting in fleecing Rs 12,000 crore from the people\u2019s pocket through electricity charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former Congress President made the accusations while addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters. Rahul Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for protecting Gautam Adani with his power. He further urged the Prime Minister to address the Adani issue and thereby defend his credibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The senior Congress leader questioned why PM Narendra Modi tight-lipped on the issue. He added that he is helping the PM Modi and demanding him to come clean by initiating an investigation and defend his credibility. Gandhi further displayed a report from the Financial Times which asserted that the Adani Group is importing billions of dollars of coal at prices above the market value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, he claimed that according to reports Adani over-invoiced coal imports and took out approximately Rs 12000 crore from the people\u2019s pockets. The Congress leader accused Adani brought coal from Indonesia and when it reached India, its price doubled. He explained that the over-invoicing of coal was having an impact on electricity rates in the country, resulting in consumers paying higher electricity bills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former Congress President also said that this story would have brought down any government in the world but no action was being taken in India. He mentioned that the people of India know that Adani is being protected and that they all know who has the power to protect him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Various political parties have also been questioning the government about the financial dealings of billionaire Gautam Adani after the US research firm Hindenburg alleged irregularities in the stock of Adani Group and charged them with stock price manipulation. However, the Adani Group has rejected all the accusations made in the Hindenburg report, claiming that it has not engaged in any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
