Adams spoke to the people at the annual Diwalli celebration hosted at his New York residence. Adams asked the people to endeavour\u00a0to remove the darkness surrounding the whole world which is witnessing the loss of innocent lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Adams said Diwali is more than just a holiday. It is a reminder that people should push away the darkness wherever they see it and bring light. He said this is what the festival of lights all about. The annual celebration was attended by hundreds of prominent members of the South Asian and Indian American communities. Adams said the people of United States cannot watch this darkness engulf their lives and their future. He called upon the people to become better human beings and engulf the true spirit of Diwali. He called upon the people to embrace the values of Mahatma Gandhi and embrace the life Lord Ram and Goddess Sita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New York state assembly woman Jenifer Rajkumar who led efforts to make Diwali a public school holiday in New York City said the Indian American community is most powerful now. She said since terrible violence and hatred is taking place against different groups in the middle east.  She added the people of USA can lead the world onto way of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rajkumar said USA\u2019s culture has been inspired by Martin Luther King Jr who was famously inspired by Gandhi.
