Bishan Singh Bedi, the former India captain and legendary spinner, died on Monday. He was 77. Bedi was part of the famous spin quartet that also comprised Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandrashekhar, S. Venkataraghavan in the 1970s. The demise comes as the 2023 World Cup in the ODI format is being held in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bishan Singh Bedi was born on September 25, 1946 in Amritsar and was a brilliant left arm bowler. He played Test cricket for India from 1966 to 1979. He captained India in 22 Test matches and took 266 wickets in 67 Tests. He finished his first-class career with 1,560 wickets.
An orthodox left-arm spinner, Bedi represented India in 67 Tests between 1967 and 1979, picking up 266 wickets at an average of 28.71. He also played 10 ODIs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
