A trader lost Rs 1 crore cash that was kept in the boot of a car that he had hired for a business trip. According to the police the needle of suspicion moves towards the cab driver and others who knew he was carrying a large amount of cash. The police have registered a complaint by trader HS Umesh from Bheema samudra near Chitradurga. The incident took place on October 7 and the complaint was lodged on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Umesh and his friend GE Malikarjun own Sri Marulasiddheshwara Traders in Chitradurga. They purchased arecanuts from farmers to sell them in other states. Umesh had hired a sedan (registration number KA-16-N-8522). The car is owned by Swamy PB of Talya village in Holakere Taluk. He had put the cash bag in the car boot. He drove with Swamy to several places in Tumakuru district to meet farmers. The police said he did not open the bag during the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While on their way to Bengaluru Swamy and Umesh had lunch at a hotel in Gandhinagar at about 2pm. He decided to meet his daughter who is studying here and staying in the PG accommodation and another relative in Chandra layout. On the returntrip he and Swamy stopped at a restaurant by the highway to have tea. When he reached Bheemasamudra around 7:45 pm and opened the boot and he realized that the cash was missing. Umesh asked Swami but he said he had no idea about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The went back to all the places they had visited but they were unable to find the bag. In a similar incident a daylight robbery took place in Bengaluru where Rs 13 lakh was stolen from a parked luxury car. The incident was recorded on CCTV. The video two masked men approaching the car.
