Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for what he referred to as a failure to address the concerns of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and tribal communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a rally in Kanker district in election-bound Chhattisgarh, Rahul Gandhi began his speech by reflecting on the fulfillment of the promises made by his party. The senior Congress leader asserted that the BJP had initially cast doubt on whether the Congress would be able to fulfill their promises when they formed the government in the state in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rahul Gandhi underscored the importance of government policies benefiting both the rich and the poor, a sentiment he claimed the BJP had failed to adhere to. Rahul Gandhi said that their government helps the farmers, labourers and the poor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further alleged that PM Modi and the BJP primarily favoured industrialists, including Gautam Adani and his group, adding that business interests in every state appeared to be concentrated in the hands of Adani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former Congress President also took aim at PM Modi’s previous statements, including his alleged derogatory remarks about the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) and his comments that the BJP government represented the interests of backward communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of not carrying out a caste census out of fear of revealing the true representation of OBCs in the country. He said the government was predominantly run by a small group of bureaucrats and not by elected representatives, who he claimed neglected the interests of OBC communities. He added that the population of the OBC category exceeded 50 per cent, but the Modi government was hesitant to acknowledge the fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Congress leader also alleged that PM Narendra Modi was afraid to conduct a caste survey and questioned him why he was not raising the issue in his campaigning speeches. He questioned PM Modi, why is he afraid of the OBC caste-based census? Why don’t he speak about caste-based census in his speeches? He added that the prime minister always uses the word backward in his speeches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further enquired why the central government did not release the data which they prepared during their government, adding that the prime minister knows in today’s India, the OBC does not have the participation it should have and he wants to hide this truth from the OBC youth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
